On the evening of December 9, 2025, Balch’s son arrived at the residence in the 1800 block of Northwest 9th Street to take her to view Christmas lights. He found the back door standing open and discovered his mother upright on her bed, her own clothing used as bindings that restricted her arms and prevented escape. Officers with the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to the call and immediately noted the scene as suspicious, prompting homicide investigators to take over.

An autopsy determined that Balch had suffered multiple bruises across her body and face, along with a fractured hip that caused internal bleeding. In early April 2026, prosecutors obtained an arrest warrant charging Wilson with first-degree murder, rape, burglary and assault. Court records list additional counts including second-degree murder and sexual abuse of a vulnerable adult. He remains held on a $10 million bond while the case proceeds.
