JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Gunfire erupted outside a home on the city's Westside Monday afternoon, claiming the life of a 57-year-old woman and leaving three men wounded in what authorities describe as a fast-moving incident.
Christine Dixon died after being rushed to a hospital from the scene in the 8200 block of Susie Street near Old Middleburg Road, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office confirmed. The shooting happened around 1 p.m. on July 27, 2026, when multiple 911 callers reported people shot at a residence.
Responding officers found three gunshot victims at the location: Dixon, a 33-year-old man, and a 69-year-old man. Paramedics transported all three to area hospitals. A fourth person, a 31-year-old man, arrived separately at another medical facility with a gunshot wound. Investigators believe the exchange of shots occurred outdoors.
Detectives have detained multiple individuals at the scene for questioning as they work to sort out who fired the shots and why. Cmdr. Jacob Vorpahl called the situation dynamic, noting that interviews with survivors and witnesses continue.
