Summary: America’s healthcare future — and that of all Western nations — depends on a smaller, more productive white-majority population. With the rise of artificial intelligence and quantum computing, we will no longer need low-skilled labor to pick our produce or perform other manual tasks. Quite simply, we don’t need mass immigration, and we never did.

Nuclear Medicine Injection sounds serious, so I did a Google search before submitting myself to the test. Along the way, I came to a list of primary care providers including physicians, nurse practitioners, and the like at the Cleveland Clinic web site.

Of the first 26 with photos, 16 (62%) were white and four (15%) were white men.

Curious, I dug deeper.

Although white physicians as a whole still represent 56–62% of the active physician workforce, the proportion of white men entering medicine has steadily declined in recent years. Key demographic trends reveal that of matriculants and residents, white men now comprise roughly one-quarter of entering medical students.

Should we worry?

There is a gender shift. Women constitute the clear majority (over 50%) of all U.S. medical school matriculants. Given their nurturing instinct, that may be a strong positive. When it comes to innovative technology development, however, white men dominate [source].

White males currently account for approximately 20–25% of new medical school matriculants and residents entering the U.S. physician workforce. That’s a significant decrease, but with a white male population in the USA at 29.4%, it’s not worrisome on the surface. What is worrisome is the white displacement it reflects.

Western cultures have, after all, provided the world with healthcare so advanced that each successive generation enjoys significantly better medical care than the one before it. Add significant contributions from East Asians, and its a trend that only the foolish would tamper with.

Examining Trends in Physician Workforce Composition

Physicians in the United States have long been predominantly white, reflecting historical patterns in medical education and career pipelines, not to mention the population as a whole. Today, that picture continues to change as admissions policies, workforce needs, and efforts to broaden representation in health care more to the forefront.

Workforce Numbers and Gradual Changes

Again, recent data show white male physicians still make up the largest share of the more than one million active doctors nationwide. Their proportion has declined slowly over time as more women, Asian Americans, and graduates from other backgrounds join the ranks. States such as California lead in total physician counts, yet distribution challenges persist, especially in rural areas.

Admissions Policies Under Scrutiny

Critics highlight how some medical schools used race-conscious approaches that accepted students from underrepresented groups with lower average MCAT scores and GPAs compared to white and East Asian applicants. These practices drew criticism for potentially sidelining highly qualified candidates. Following the 2023 Supreme Court decision limiting affirmative action, enrollment patterns for black and Latino students shifted downward in subsequent years despite rising applicant numbers.

Perspectives on Equity and Merit

Advocates for greater diversity argue that a workforce mirroring patient demographics can improve trust and outcomes in varied communities. Others express concern that adjusted criteria might affect overall competence and patient safety. White male physicians have historically proven themselves, in the aggregate, to provide superior healthcare for Americans. White female physicians, though fewer, were also quite capable.

So, the ongoing recalibration raises questions about fairness across applicant groups, including higher historical thresholds noted for non-white and non-East Asian candidates. Are they up to the task? Or are they being flown into Western nations to appease Marxist “values” of equity?

Shortages Drive Broader Pressures

An aging population and wave of retirements have created projected physician shortfalls, particularly in primary care. This demand intensifies competition for training spots and jobs. International medical graduates help fill voids, but are they really needed? The massive influx of young, non-white aliens also burden healthcare demands and they, too, will age. We don’t have a baby boomer problem, we have a border boomer problem.
Baby boomers are dying out, border boomers are growing in number and they are less productive by every metric. We can’t ethically stop aging, but we can control our borders. Our challenge, then, is to create residencies to meet future needs of populations that are virtually homogeneous.

Looking Ahead in Health Care

America’s health care future requires a smaller, more productive white-majority population. The same holds true of all Western countries. With the advent of artificial intelligence and future of quantum computing, we won’t need anyone to pick our produce. We don’t need others and, quite frankly, we never did.

It’s time to rethink diversity. As the country grows more diverse, medical education and hiring practices face continued adjustment. Leaders seek ways to uphold rigorous preparation while addressing border-boomer demands for physicians “who look like me” and “understand my socio economic and cultural feelings.” That was never a problem when Western nations were overwhelmingly white.
