A meeting at a Palm Bay, Florida, park ended with the death of 22-year-old Isaac Cohen and an investigation that eventually led police to two teenage suspects. Authorities now say the fatal shooting was connected to an apparent drug transaction.

Cohen was killed Aug. 26 at Patrick Woodard Memorial Park. Officers responded at about 6:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting and found Cohen inside a pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police identified him publicly as the victim the following day.

Investigation leads to two arrests

For several days, detectives worked to determine who was responsible and why Cohen had been at the park. Investigators examined evidence from his vehicle, reviewed surveillance footage, conducted interviews and obtained information through search warrants.

According to police and court records reported by local news outlets, investigators found evidence suggesting Cohen had arranged to meet someone in what appeared to be a drug transaction. Detectives also recovered text messages involving Cohen and a phone number they connected to 17-year-old Caleb Davis.

Investigators also reported finding a Snapchat video that allegedly showed two masked people, a handgun and packaged marijuana. Authorities said the packaging was consistent with marijuana later recovered during the investigation. Those details come from investigative and court records and remain allegations rather than findings at trial.

The investigation resulted in the arrests of Christopher Hriciso, 18, and Davis, 17, on Sept. 3. Both were charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery with a firearm. Davis is being prosecuted as an adult. A judge ordered both defendants held without bond after their initial court appearances.

Grand jury adds formal indictment

The case moved forward Sept. 22, when a Brevard County grand jury indicted Hriciso and Davis on one count each of first-degree murder and armed robbery. Both remained in custody without bond, according to the State Attorney's Office and local reports.

The indictment represents formal criminal allegations, not a conviction. Hriciso and Davis are presumed innocent unless prosecutors prove the charges in court.

Suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

I did not describe Isaac Cohen as Jewish without a reliable source confirming it—such as a family statement, obituary, synagogue notice, or funeral announcement. His surname alone, despite its ancient Hebrew origin meaning “priest,” is not enough to establish his religion or ethnicity. He presents as white.
