Prior to the arrest, wric.com reported, "Officers are searching for an armed suspect described as a younger Black male who is 5-feet, 8-inches tall and 125 pounds. He was last seen wearing a two-toned sweatshirt with a camouflaged bottom half and a face mask. The suspect’s hair is described as shaggy with shaved sides."

The girl was fatally shot while walking in the upscale Henrico County, Virginia neighborhood where she lived with her family.
Unconfirmed reports say the suspect was fulfilling a gang initiation which required him to kill a randomly selected white person.

The victim, who was not identified, died at a hospital after being transported from the scene. Authorities were conducting a manhunt for a suspect, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported.
The suspect was described by Henrico police as a Black male, 5-foot-8, 125 pounds, wearing a hooded sweatshirt with camouflage on the bottom, the newspaper reported. He was last seen fleeing on foot, the report said.
