DailyKenn.com — A school librarian prompted a call for diversity training after giving a bi-racial student a haircut.

Reports say half of the the 7-year-old victim's hair had been previously cut by another student on a school bus. Her father took her to a hair salon for a symmetrical hair cut. Upon returning to school, it appears the librarian thought she could improve the child's hair with more trimming.

One person complained, citing the importance of hair in the black community. The person then called for the librarian to undergo diversity training.

The incidents occurred in Isabella County, Michigan and were reported April 20, 2021.

Take aways...

• We find it difficult to understand why outrage was focused on the librarian and not the apparent bullies on the bus who seemed to have assaulted the little girl.

• We wonder if the school system's bus drivers need intervention training to effectively handle disrupting students.

• We wonder if the bus was equipped with a security video system, if police were contacted, and if assault charges were lodged.

• School officials say there is more to the story. Still, it seems the government school teachers should take deprogramming classes to free them of the notion that government schools should assume the role of surrogate parents.
