DailyKenn.com — Aaron Sorkin is delving into the Jan. 6 protests with a new film project, as revealed on the latest episode of The Town podcast. While discussing the turbulent state of American politics, Sorkin didn't mince words about who he holds responsible for the insurrectionist attack on the White House. "I blame Facebook for January 6," he asserted, teasing further details that audiences would have to discover by purchasing a movie ticket.

However, Sorkin remained tight-lipped about the specifics, deferring to his publicist's presence at a pre-White House Correspondents Dinner gathering hosted by WME and Puck in Washington, D.C.

When pressed to elaborate on his Facebook criticism, Sorkin pointed to the platform's algorithm, accusing it of amplifying divisive content to boost engagement, a tactic known internally as "the infinite scroll." He singled out Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg as a key figure exacerbating America's political discord, lamenting the absence of a balance between growth and integrity within the company.

Sorkin suggested that if Zuckerberg prioritized integrity over profit, it could significantly improve the country's political climate. Despite having exchanged words with Zuckerberg over the years, primarily through op-eds in The New York Times, Sorkin remains critical of Facebook's influence.

Regarding his January 6th movie, Sorkin remained coy when asked if it would serve as a sequel to The Social Network, opting to give his publicist a reprieve from further discussion. However, his comments strongly hinted at a possible connection between the two projects.

While Sorkin expressed concerns about TikTok's impact on character and standards, he stopped short of attributing January 6th or the election of Donald Trump to the platform.
