DailyKenn.com — A Moroccan man, Ahmed Alid, was found guilty of murder in northeast England after stabbing a passer-by to death in what he claimed was revenge for Israeli actions in Gaza. Alid, 45, who had sought asylum in Britain, attacked his 70-year-old victim on a Hartlepool street on October 15 last year, following an earlier assault on his housemate with two knives.

Prosecutors revealed that Alid confessed to police that he carried out the attacks as retaliation for the Gaza conflict, blaming Britain for the creation of Israel. He expressed intentions to cause more harm, admitting that he would have killed more people if he had access to additional weapons.

Nick Price, Head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, condemned Alid's actions, emphasizing that despite his motivations, he chose to harm innocent individuals with a knife, resulting in tragic consequences.

The initial attack targeted Alid's housemate, whom he stabbed six times after learning of his conversion to Christianity. The victim managed to defend himself, aided by another resident. Alid then proceeded to fatally stab Terence Carney from behind as he passed him on the street, inflicting multiple wounds.

Following his arrest, Alid assaulted two female detectives during questioning, causing injuries to one of them. He was convicted at Teeside Crown Court of murder, attempted murder, and assaulting emergency workers. His sentencing, scheduled for May 17, will determine if his actions constitute terrorism-related offenses.
