Milwaukee Woman Killed in Suspected Reckless Driving Crash
MILWAUKEE — Iris Feliciano-Hernandez, 30, a native of Puerto Rico who moved to Milwaukee in 2016, was killed June 7 in a suspected reckless driving crash downtown.
The collision happened at West State and North Sixth streets, about a block from Milwaukee police headquarters. Feliciano-Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene after a red 2015 Volkswagen Passat, allegedly driven by 20-year-old Tremayne A. Brown, ran a red light and struck her blue 2007 Toyota Yaris, authorities said.

Investigators said Brown was traveling about 70 mph in the downtown area before disregarding the signal. Pole camera footage showed the Volkswagen hitting the passenger side of Feliciano-Hernandez’s vehicle.
Brown is charged with second-degree reckless homicide and knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended, causing death. Court records show his license was suspended at the time of the crash and he had been cited three times earlier this year for driving with a suspended license.
Brown told police he had consumed “a couple of shots” of gin that morning. Officers said he appeared disoriented and could not recall his destination or the day of the week. He made his initial court appearance June 11. His cash bond was set at $50,000, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 18.
Feliciano-Hernandez’s family described her as a beloved only daughter with a contagious smile, known for her creativity and charisma. She worked for a manufacturing company in Waukesha and also ran a small business baking Puerto Rican treats. In her free time, she focused on her entrepreneurial pursuits and cared for her pets, Milo, Aura and Mia.
Her family expressed frustration that Brown was still driving despite multiple prior citations. A small service for immediate relatives was held at Witkowiak Funeral Home on Milwaukee’s historic Mitchell Street. A funeral in Puerto Rico is scheduled for June 19.
The family said they want justice for Feliciano-Hernandez and emphasized her vibrant life and contributions to the community.
