Tulsa Man, 34, Fatally Shot in Dispute; Suspect in Custody
TULSA, Okla. — A 34-year-old Tulsa man, Stephen George Cox, was fatally shot on Aug. 14, 2025, following a dispute among acquaintances in Tulsa County, authorities said. The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office reported that the shooting occurred during an altercation, leaving Cox dead and another individual injured by glass from a bullet-shattered vehicle window.
The second victim was interviewed by detectives.

Deputies arrested a suspect, identified as Jovohn Blanke, 24, who was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on charges of first-degree murder, shooting with intent to kill after a former felony conviction, and possession of a firearm after a felony conviction.
Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved knew each other prior to the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, with further updates expected as new information emerges.
Cox, an artist and lifelong Tulsa resident, was born on June 15, 1991, to Scott Metzger and Melissa Fornoff. A celebration of his life was held on Aug. 30, 2025, at his mother’s home in Tulsa, with food donations welcomed for the reception.
