Summary: Sean Greer received 73 years in prison for a 2021 crash in Wilton Manors, Florida. He drove onto a sidewalk to pass a bus, striking six children and killing Andrea Fleming, 6, Paris “Kylie” Jones, 5, and Laziyah “Minnie” Stukes, 9. With a suspended license since 2016 and on probation, Greer fled the scene and lied to police. The sentence was handed down nearly four and a half years after the tragedy.

WILTON MANORS, Fla. — A split-second decision to swerve around a bus cost three young black children their lives and sent a man with a long history of driving violations to prison for decades.

Sean Charles Greer, 32, received a 73-year sentence Thursday, June 25, 2026 in Broward County court for the deadly crash. The punishment includes consecutive terms that ensure he will spend most of the rest of his life behind bars.

On Dec. 27, 2021, Greer steered his Honda Accord off the road and onto a sidewalk where six children walked with relatives. He struck all of them while trying to pass a city bus. Two girls died at the scene. A third fought for her life on a ventilator for months before succumbing to her injuries the following summer.

The victims were 6-year-old Andrea Fleming, 5-year-old Paris “Kylie” Jones, and 9-year-old Laziyah “Minnie” Stukes. Three other children survived with serious injuries.

Authorities say Greer fled without stopping to help. When officers later tracked him down, he claimed he had only hit a pole. He told them he drove away because he was on probation and feared more trouble. His driver’s license had been suspended since 2016, yet he chose to get behind the wheel anyway.

Prosecutors outlined how Greer sped along a residential street before the fatal maneuver. He pleaded no contest earlier this year to multiple counts, including vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal crash. The judge imposed a stiff penalty: a dozen 48-year terms for key charges, plus a consecutive 25-year sentence on one leaving-the-scene count.

Family members attended the hearing, seeking justice for the little ones who never made it home. The long delay between the 2021 incident and this week’s sentencing is due to building a strong case and allowing time for medical outcomes to settle.

Greer’s choices that afternoon — driving without a valid license, attempting a dangerous pass, fleeing the scene, and misleading investigators — compounded into one of the most heartbreaking cases in recent South Florida memory.

This case suggests that narcissism can be deadly and that driving comes with responsibility, especially in areas where families and children gather. Greer’s actions that day ignored every layer of caution that experienced or lawful drivers take for granted.

To my knowledge, Greer did not target the children because of their race.
