TULSA, Oklahoma — Mike and Mary Moore went to work Friday morning at the towing business they operated together. By the end of the day, both were dead, and a dispute over a vehicle had become a double-homicide investigation.

The shooting happened Aug. 28 at Mike’s Towing in Tulsa. Police said Darius Jones and two other people arrived at the business to retrieve a vehicle that had been impounded. What began as a disagreement eventually became physical inside the office, according to investigators.

According to the police account reported by local news outlets, Jones allegedly pulled a firearm and pointed it at Mike Moore. Moore then drew his own weapon. Authorities said Jones fired, striking both Mike and Mary.

Mike was able to return fire and hit Jones in the arm before he was overcome by his injuries. Mary died at the business. Mike was taken to a hospital, where he later died. Jones was also hospitalized for treatment before being taken into custody.

Jones now faces two counts of murder in connection with the deaths of Mike and Mary Moore. The charges are allegations, and the case must proceed through the court system before guilt can be determined.
