A 38-year-old white woman is dead, and a black male faces murder charges following a shooting near Mooresville, North Carolina.

Sarah Sharp was killed Friday night, Sept. 4, 2026, in Rowan County, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies arrived shortly after 8:30 p.m. and found Sharp unresponsive with a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A second 38-year-old victim, Joshua Obugene, suffered multiple gunshot wounds and received medical treatment.

Investigators identified 27-year-old Jaylene Ty’rese White as the suspect. Authorities said White knew both victims and that an ongoing conflict preceded the shooting.

Deputies later found White at a nearby residence and arrested him without incident. He faces one count of murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder. He was initially held without bond.

The investigation remains ongoing. The charges are allegations, and White is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
