Three-year-old boy among the victims as deadly assaults strike farming communities in Benue State
Black lives matter — but only when their deaths can be exploited by the woke left.
When at least 12 black Africans, including a three-year-old boy, were killed in Benue State, Nigeria, in early October 2026, the Black Lives Matter movement was quiet. The woke left offered no concern for the victims. There were no protests, no rioting, and not even a complaint.
The assaults, carried out by armed Muslims who reportedly attacked residents with machetes, left additional people injured and renewed attention on the dangers facing farming communities in the country's troubled Middle Belt.
The victims were Christians, targeted for their faith in separate attacks on two rural communities.
Here's what I discovered about the attacks.
Two Attacks, Three Days Apart
The first attack occurred Wednesday, Oct. 7, in Omulonye, a community in Otukpo Local Government Area. According to reports from residents, three people were killed, including a young boy whose father was identified as a local security guard. The boy's mother was reportedly injured.
Witnesses said the assailants traveled on motorcycles and moved through residential areas, attacking people with machetes. Some residents fled their homes, while others were reported missing in the immediate aftermath.

Several injured people were taken for medical treatment.
A Region Struggling With Repeated Violence
Benue State lies in Nigeria's Middle Belt, a region where farming communities have endured recurring deadly attacks, kidnappings and displacement. The state has a predominantly Christian population, and many residents depend on agriculture for their livelihoods.
Residents attributed the violence to armed Fulani militants.
Christian communities are specifically targeted because of their faith.
The deaths of children and other civilians underscore the human cost of attacks on rural settlements, where families may have limited access to immediate protection or emergency medical services.

Virtually all of the victims were non-white and many, perhaps most, were black. Islamic hate group kill nearly 10,000 people each year. In 2025, 14,029 were killed by Islamic terrorists.
Meanwhile, the woke left promotes the false notion that people of color are victimized exclusively by whites.
When I asked grok.com how many blacks were killed by "white supremacists," I was told, "In short, confirmed killings of black people by white supremacists in 2025 appear to number in the single digits at most (and possibly zero high-profile or mass-casualty cases), according to the major monitoring organizations. By contrast, the large majority of black homicide victims in the U.S. are killed by black offenders in ordinary criminal violence, not by white supremacists."
The woke left's concern for black lives appears highly selective.
