A 20-year-old white man is dead, one black suspect is in custody, and another black suspect remains wanted following a fatal shooting in Leesville, Louisiana, that began a homicide investigation late Sunday night.

Jackson Malone died after being shot at a trailer park in Leesville on Oct. 11, according to the Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office. The case has led to criminal charges against two men, both of whom investigators identified as suspects in the killing.

Shooting Reported Late Sunday

Deputies and emergency responders received reports of a shooting shortly before 11 p.m. Oct. 11. When they arrived, they found Malone unresponsive with gunshot wounds.

First responders attempted to save his life before transporting him to a nearby medical facility. Despite those efforts, Malone died from his injuries at approximately 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12.

Detectives began interviewing witnesses and gathering information to determine what happened. According to investigators, witnesses identified two men they believed were involved in the shooting. The men allegedly left the area in a green Nissan Titan pickup truck.

Authorities subsequently identified the suspects as Amarion Davis, 19, also known as “Man Man,” and Khamarre Carthan, 20, known as “K3.” Both men are from Leesville.

One Man Turns Himself In

The investigation took a significant step forward Monday evening when Carthan surrendered to sheriff’s office detectives, according to authorities.

Carthan was arrested and booked on charges of criminal conspiracy, second-degree robbery and principal to second-degree murder. The charges allege different forms of involvement in the events surrounding Malone’s death.

Davis, meanwhile, remained at large in the latest reports available for this article. Authorities are seeking him on a charge of second-degree murder.

The sheriff’s office has warned that Davis should be considered armed and dangerous. Officials have urged the public not to approach him or attempt to take him into custody.
